Distinguished School Nomination
Vista Grande has been nominated as a California Distinguised School. The California Department of Education found that Vista Grande test scores showed the outstanding work being done at our school for all students, including closing the gap between students and student groups.
In order to to be honored as a California Distinguished School, we have two other steps that we have to get through: (1) an application process that calls out what practices teachers and staff are using to close the achievement gap; and (2) a walk-through visit by Department of Education representatives.
Vista Grande proudly announces that we have made it past the first hurdle, and our application has been accepted.
We will soon host the representatives from the California Department of Education to tour our school. They will be looking at data, room environment, student work, collaboration among staff, assessment and monitoring of students, and alignment of our work to the California Education Standards in each area. The representatives from the CDE will be interested in speaking with staff, students, our Parent-Teacher Organization (Foundation), and other people who are involved with our school.
We are very proud of our staff, students, and parents for striving so hard to make Vista Grande a successful experience for all learners!
