California STAR Tests

Students in grades 2-5 will be given a series of tests in the spring of every school year. The tests are multiple choice tests, primarily on language arts and math standards. 5th grade includes a science portion. 4th grade includes a writing portion (given separately in March).  Results of these tests are usually mailed to parents around the time of the beginning of the next school year (there is no set date).

The scores on these tests are used to evaluate the progress of students in a variety of ways and are broken down into statistical categories.
